Predict and Prevent Infectious Diseases

Predict and Prevent Infectious Diseases

A primary objective is to integrate theoretical (geosciences/medicine) concepts with practical public health applications that can link the climate lens to the healthcare system, as well as health management policy in the US. The scientific inquiries delineated earlier, along with the methodologies outlined to tackle these inquiries, serve as the starting point for intellectual conversations. We plan to build an inclusive scientific community to develop a Predict and Prevent framework for coastal infectious pathogens, associated bioaerosols, and climate systems. The two aims of the community capacity building include:

  • Engaging scholars, practitioners, and professionals from different geosciences and healthcare management domains to closely examine three key propositions regarding the generation of prediction and prevention strategies through the assimilation of priori and posteriori knowledge.
  • Developing Predict Prevent Data Exchange, a technological opportunity to create a dynamic web-based community interest platform, digital knowledge and literacy repositories, and education solutions that will aid in the joint definition of a complex problem and associated scenarios with inputs from the broader community of health professions, physicians and related decision makers.
